Wills Week: Giving back to the community
Scheibert & Associates participated in the annual national Wills Week 2020 during October this year. This is an opportunity for law firms across the country to give back to the community, by providing free basic wills.
In keeping with the increased use of digital communication platforms in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Scheibert & Associates conducted consultations with clients regarding the finalisation of their Testaments both in person as well as online via Skype and Zoom.
Clients who approached Scheibert & Associates to have their Will drafted for free were asked to provide FICA documentation and to complete a short questionnaire, in which they provided details on their heirs, who they wish to be appointed as the executor of their estate, as well as the guardian/s of their minor children.
Our dedicated team of professionals were able to use the information clients provided to carefully draft Testaments which suited each individuals’ specific requirements. Clients were sent a draft copy of their Will before a final consultation was held to explain the provisions contained therein and to determine whether any final additions or alterations were required.
We were able to shorten our consultation time with clients by requesting information regarding each Testament ahead of time, making the finalisation of each Will streamlined and efficient.
Wills Week 2020 was a great success, with more participants than before, and we have learnt a great deal from the integration of digital based platforms, which positively enhanced our communication with clients in finalising the many Testaments that we drafted.
Do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to draft a Will or have your existing Will updated or checked by one of our professionals. Clients are encouraged to remember the importance of estate planning and the significant role that a succinctly drafted Testament can play in ensuring that your assets are distributed to those you most care about.
