New Mauritian visa caters to remote workers
Mauritius, known for its laid-back island lifestyle and natural beauty, has introduced an exciting new visa category, aimed at the self-employed seeking beautiful surroundings whilst they work remotely.
Health has become the single most important matter on everyone’s minds during the pandemic, as the world’s nations try to juggle safety and business continuity. Mauritius has demonstrated an agile approach to managing Covid-19, and has managed to flatten the infection curve sustainably in a reasonably short time.
Mauritius has introduced an exciting new class of visa, the Premium Travel Visa, which allows remote workers to live and conduct business remotely from a Covid-safe destination for a maximum of a year.
The conditions are:
The stay must be a minimum of 180 days, and a maximum of a year. The visa is renewable.
Applicant should not enter the Mauritius labour market
The main place of business and/or source of income and profits should be outside Mauritius
A negative Covid-19 test on entering the country
Proof of funds and other conditions pertaining to Mauritian visas
The good news is that South Africans are on the list of eligible nationals.
